DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) is an email security protocol that helps prevent phishing and spoofing. It works alongside SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) to verify whether emails sent from your domain are legitimate.
Why Use DMARC?
Protects your domain from misuse
Improves email deliverability
Provides insights into email traffic through reports
Create a DMARC Record
Refer to DMARC Record Generator to generate values for your DMARC record
Once you have it, go to your domain's DNS zone and create a new TXT record with the generated values.
Type | Name | Value | TTL |
TXT | _dmarc | paste the generated value | default (14400) |
DMARC relies on SPF and DKIM to function properly. While you can create a DMARC record without them, it won’t be effective. DMARC checks if an email passes SPF or DKIM and aligns with the domain policy.
